Green Technologies is located in Winooski, Vermont.  It was founded with the belief that chemistry can solve many of the world's problems if practiced in a sustainable way.  Our main product is currently biodiesel- a cleaner-burning and non-toxic alternative to diesel fuel and #2 heating oil.  We are strong advocates for "micro-biodiesel" production, similar to what occurs in the beer industry.  This has advantages for several reasons:

1. Local biodiesel production takes advantage of local feedstocks, whether they are recycled vegetable oil from restaurants, or locally-grown oil crops (such as canola, sunflower, corn or soybeans).

2. Transportation costs are drastically reduced- fuel is made closer to where it is ultimately used.

3. Local production makes communities more self-sufficient.

4. Underutilized "waste" streams such as recycled oil and fats from restaurants can be converted into useful products instead of being disposed of.
